About The Position The County of Riverside's University Health System (RUHS), Environmental Services D ivision, is seeking qualified Housekeepers for positions at the Medical Center located in Moreno Valley and at the Psychiatry - Emergency and Inpatient Services (Arlington Campus) in Riverside.The most competitive candidates will demonstrate hands-on experience performing floor care and housekeeping duties, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting. The department is particularly seeking candidates with experience operating floor care equipment and performing tasks such as stripping and waxing floors, buffing and burnishing, scrubbing and refinishing floors, and properly cleaning and maintaining a variety of flooring surfaces.
Candidates should also demonstrate experience with general housekeeping duties, including cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces while following infection-prevention and safety standards. This experience is essential as the position requires employees to independently perform routine and specialized floor care and housekeeping duties while safely handling cleaning chemicals, equipment, trash, linen, and hazardous waste.
Additional qualifications include the ability to wash and make beds following discharges and transfers; follow verbal and written instructions in English; observe hospital safety and security precautions; maintain confidentiality of patient information; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, personnel, and the general public; and work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Under general supervision, uses aseptic techniques to maintain offices, hospital patient units, hospital living quarters, and other assigned areas in the Riverside University Health System (RUHS)-Medical Center, RUHS-Public Health clinics, and the Psychiatric In-patient facility or other facilities as directed; and performs other related duties as required.
The Housekeeper is an entry-level classification and reports to a supervisory or manager level position. This class is distinguished from the class of Custodian in that the former class performs aseptic cleaning of hospital/healthcare facilities and is responsible for the safe removal of hazardous and contaminated materials.
Work Schedule and/or Shift Times: ( Wi ll be discussed during the interview and are subject to change upon department needs.)
Schedule: 5/40 rotating schedule, rotating weekends off.

Examples Of Essential Duties
- Using aseptic techniques, clean, sweep, wash, and mop floors, walls, beds, furniture, and appliances in offices, restrooms, wards, living quarters, and other hospital/healthcare areas.
- Strip, seal, wax, and polish floors; vacuum and shampoo rugs; clean and disinfect operating rooms.
- Remove contaminated materials from rooms and deposit in the prescribed containers for safe disposal; empty and clean waste receptacles, kick buckets, and ashtrays; replenish sanitary supplies; make and change beds.
- Mix disinfectant solutions; move furniture from one area to another; change curtains and drapes; may drive light truck to collect and dispose of trash.
Ability to: Read and write English at a level required for successful job performance; learn the methods of cleaning and caring for hospital facilities; understand and follow oral and written directions; work cooperatively with others.

Work Location and Telework
In-person attendance is the standard work expectation for County of Riverside assignments. Pre-Employment
